Manage Panel

You may access the manage console anytime by clicking on the "Manage" button located on the bottom of the contact index side bar (see Panel 1 in the screen shot below) or by clicking the "Manage" link in the main menu at the top of the screen.

The manage console has primarly been designed to allow you to manage multiple contacts at once. The 4 main fuctions are:

  • Merging contacts
  • Adding contacts to groups
  • Removing contacts from groups
  • Hiding contacts

The manage console consists of 3 panels:

  • Panel 1 is a modified version of the main contact index, which allows you to select multiple contacts.
  • Panel 2 will list all contacts that have been selected in Panel 1.
  • Panel 3 initially displays the four available manage actions. After an action has been selected Panel 3 will be updated to show the results of that action.

Merging Contacts

Merging records allows you to combine separate contact records for the same person together into a single, merged view. This not only helps to eliminate duplicate data but also gives you a simple, single overview of all contact data for a person in one location. Please note that all original records are maintained by AddressBookONE and an un-merge can be performed at anytime.

After the merge process is completed the original, separate contacts will be removed from the main contacts index and the new single, merged contact will be displayed instead.

When viewing a merged contact you will see a series of icons at the top of each merged record indicating what data sources make up that merged record. Each individual sub-contact can be viewed by clicking on the corresponding icons within each merged contact.

Adding contacts to groups

Add multiple or single contacts to custom AddressBookONE groups in just a few clicks (click here to see how to setup AddressBookONE custom groups). All selected contacts will be tagged with the custom AddressBookONE group(s) that were selected. Contacts will then appear whenever a filter or selection is applied to any group(s) that they belong to.

Removing contacts from groups

Remove multiple or single contacts from custom AddressBookONE groups in just a few clicks. All selected contacts will be removed from the custom AddressBookONE group(s) that were selected. Contacts will then no longer appear whenever a filter or selection is applied to any group(s) that they have been removed from.

Hiding contacts

Hide contacts to remove them from the main contact index view. All selected contacts will be hidden from the main contact index. Access to these contacts will then only be available by selecting the "hidden" tab in the contacts side bar (panel 1 in the above screenshot). Click here to find out how to "un-hide" hidden contacts.

Note: if you wish to hide a single contact please click here.
