Introduction
To add a new connection click the "Connections" link from the main AddressBookONE menu or click the "Manage" link in the connections section of the dashboard.
Any existing connections on your account will be displayed under "Your Connections". You will see the last refresh details of each connection as well as buttons to manually refresh the connection and also to delete the connection.
To add a new connection click the button "+ Add new connection" then, from the drop-down menu, select the connection you wish to use.
Gmail
Please do the following to connect with Gmail:
- Enter a domain into the domain box (this is an optional step required if you wish to connect to a Google Apps account).
- Click the "connect" button.
- You will now be re-directed to the Google Accounts page. If the correct email address is shown as an option click "continue", otherwise select "choose another account" then click "continue".
- If you have chosen to use another account then you will be required to sign-in with the account details before proceeding.
- Click "Grant access" to allow AddressBookONE to have access to your data.
- You should now be returned to AddressBookONE and the import process will start to retrieve your contacts from Gmail.
To connect to Facebook AddressBookONE uses "Facebook Connect"; A process designed to simplify third parties connecting to retrieve information from your friend list.
- Click the blue "f Connect" button to start the process.
- Enter your login details into the Facebook dialogue box that appears and click "Connect".
- You should now be returned to AddressBookONE and the import process will start to retrieve your friends from Facebook.
To connect to LinkedIn click the "Connect" button. You will be taken to the AddressBookONE access page at LinkedIn.
Enter your LinkedIn login credentials and select the most relevant Access Duration. This will allow AddressBookONE to access your LinkedIn contacts for the time you specify. To enable access until you choose to revoke, select "Until Revoked" from the drop-down option.
Click the "Grant Access" button once done.
You should now be returned to AddressBookONE and the import process will start to retrieve your contact list from LinkedIn.
Plaxo
To connect to Plaxo click the "Connect" button. You will be taken to the Plaxo Sign in screen. Sign in to Plaxo using your login credentials.
After a successful login you should see the AddressBookONE access request page at Plaxo.
On the Access Request page, Click "Grant access".
You should now be returned to AddressBookONE and the import process will start to retrieve your address book from Plaxo.
Exchange
Enter the URL of the Exchange server your are trying to connect to into the "URL" field.
Enter your Username, The Domain and your Password into the remaining fields.
Click the "connect" button.
You should now be returned to AddressBookONE and the import process will start to retrieve your address book from Exchange.
About Connections
From the connections link in AddressBookONE you can see what connectors you have configured. A green "OK" information box informs you that AddressBookONE still has suitable connectivity.
Pressing the "Refresh Now" button will force AddressBookONE to look for changes in the third party systems such as, for example, new Gmail contacts, deleted contacts or new Facebook Friends.
Connection Error Codes
Connectors can fail for a variety of reasons, this can be due to incorrect access credentials or, most commonly, access has been revoked from a third party system, usually caused by a time restriction that a third party connector has built in.
To grant access or increase a time restriction, visit the connector’s website and make any necessary changes.
